BiteScis - free high school science lesson plans

BiteScis was formed in 2015 by a group of scientists and communicators who met through ComSciCon. The goal of BiteScis is "to make it easy for teachers to share exciting, creative, and authentic science research with their students". Lessons are developed by an educator and researcher partnership and have been classroom-tested (or are currently in beta testing) - and the lesson plans are free and fully editable!

Most content here is high school level biology, chemistry, and physics, but they are working on middle school content as well.

Life of a "Rock Star"

Life of a Rock Star

In this unit of four activities, students will learn about geology and the important role that the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) has had in shaping Canada. Students will gain an understanding of what surveyors and geologists do. They will learn about Canada's natural resources and will have the opportunity to examine primary-source material. The suggested activities can be adapted to specific class and/or curriculum needs.

Originally released in 2007 but removed at the end of 2019, this unit can still be accessed through the Internet Archive.  As with any archived site, it's possible that some of the links or functionality may be broken.  (Hint: You can use the timeline toolbar at the top of the screen to view the page as it was published in different years.)
