MediaSmarts - free resources for children & teens

MediaSmarts is a Canadian not-for-profit charitable organization for digital and media literacy. Our vision is that children and youth have the critical thinking skills to engage with media as active and informed digital citizens.

MediaSmarts has been developing digital and media literacy programs and resources for Canadian homes, schools and communities since 1996. Through our work we support adults with information and tools so they can help children and teens develop the critical thinking skills they need for interacting with the media they love.

The Kid’s Site of Canadian Settlement - Educational Resources

In this unit, students learn about one or more of the early settlement communities of Canada through playing interactive games, researching prepared text and examining a variety of primary documents. They learn to think creatively and critically while completing activities that will give them a better understanding of the settlement community or communities they are studying. In a culminating activity, they will share their learning by producing a poster that will teach others about their settlement group(s).
