25 Virtual Field Trip Ideas

 Edmonton kids are off school for a few days, and while we hope that they'll spend as much time away from screens as possible (especially if they've been doing online learning!), we've rounded up a list of virtual field trips that you can use to inspire, entertain, and occupy them while there are no classes to attend.

  1. Iqaluit, Nunavut – The Canadian Arctic (A Google Maps Trek page)
  2. Yellowstone National Park (There are actually seven different sections to this page.)
  3. Yosemite National Park (Not a walk-through, but a collection of 360-degree photos.  It may take a bit to load - be patient!)
  4. Ocean School (interactive website - free registration required)
  5. Interactive Mars Virtual Tour (recorded by NASA's Curiosity rover)
  6. Tour the International Space Station (video tours - and don't miss the NASA TV section or the learning resources)
  7. Visit the US Space and Rocket Center (video tour on YouTube)
  8. Farm Food 360 (Visit Canadian farms raising beef, chicken, turkey, pig, sheep, egg, grain, mink, and more.)
  9. The Louvre Museum, Paris (virtual exhibit tours)
  10. Canadian Museum of History (online exhibitions)
  11. The Royal Tyrrell Museum (A Google Maps walk-through)
  12. Canadian Museum of Human Rights (video tours, resource guides, and online exhibits)
  13. The Palace of Versailles (A Google Arts & Culture page)
  14. Art Gallery of Ontario(view the collection online)
  15. The Parliament Buildings (You can walk through the building, thanks to Google.  The only disappointment was that we couldn't click on any doors to open them.)

  17. Masterpieces from the National Gallery in London (A quick video walk-through of the National Gallery)
  18. Uffizi Gallery, Florence Italy (A Google Arts & Culture page)
